Every milestone in life deserves to be celebrated, but there are few moments as special as welcoming a new baby into the world. Recently, I had the honour of helping a mother create a truly heartfelt gift for her son and daughter-in-law—a personalised photobook that captured the joy, excitement and memories of their baby shower.
This project was a labour of love, and it reminded me just how important it is to preserve these once-in-a-lifetime memories in a way that can be cherished forever.
A Beautiful Idea, A Little Overwhelming
When this wonderful mum first reached out to me, I could sense her excitement mixed with a hint of apprehension. She had a vision in her heart of what she wanted the final photobook to look like, but she had no idea where to start or how to piece it all together.
In her messages, there was a tenderness, a real desire to give her son something extraordinary to mark the arrival of his first child. However, like many clients, she felt overwhelmed by the task ahead.
Thankfully, she had come to the right place.
Turning Memories into a Masterpiece
After speaking with her, she sent me all the materials she had lovingly gathered. There were zipped folders of photographs from the baby shower, scanned copies of adorable onesie-shaped cut-outs where guests had written messages and advice, and scanned baby prediction notes that had been filled in by family and friends.
Once I had all the pieces, my creative mind went into full drive.
Designing a personalised photobook like this required more than simply arranging images on a page. Every detail needed careful attention. I painstakingly matched each handwritten note, prediction and onesie with the photo of the person who had written it. This meant reading through handwriting, identifying faces, cross-checking names and confirming every detail with the client to ensure absolute accuracy.
It was meticulous, delicate work—but completely worth it. Every prediction, every heartfelt wish, every piece of advice found its rightful place alongside the smiling faces who had offered them.
The result? A breathtaking masterpiece keepsake. A gift that would not only celebrate the upcoming arrival of a grandchild but also capture the deep love and community that surrounded this little one before they even entered the world.
